An inter-domain portable approach to interchange format construction
نویسنده
چکیده
The work presented in this paper regards the construction of the formal representation of the content of the input sentence. It is part of a speech-to-speech translation system, where this language independent format is used as an intermediate representation between source and target languages. The general application domain is travel planning, but it is divided in more speci c domains, such as hotel and transport reservation. Starting from the word string output by the recognizer, the construction of the content representation requires the recognition of: 1) the speech act and concept list, and 2) a list of arguments in the form of argument name/value pairs. For the former, semantic classi cation trees [5] are used and domain portability depends on the availability of labeled data for the new domain. For argument extraction a pipeline of lters is used, where each lter is based on a semantic grammar, which in most cases is regular. Then, these lters can be used all together for the most general analysis, or separately when only one or a few domains are considered. Argument extraction is described and evaluated in terms of the changes in precision and recall with respect to the number of lters and of rules.

What is an Upper Level Ontology ? Wolfgang Degen
In the present paper we make some contributions to the theory of upper level categories. Every domain-speciic ontology must use as a framework some upper-level ontology which describes the most general, domain-independent categories of reality. It turns out that the top-level ontology of the well-known standard modelling languages KIF (Knowledge Interchange Format), F-logic (Frame-Logic), and C...
متن کاملGenerating EDI Message Translations from Visual Specifications
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems are used in many domains to support inter-organisational information exchange. These systems require complex message translation, where data must be transformed from one EDI message format into another. We describe a visual language and support environment which greatly simplify the task of the systems integrator by using a domain-specific visual langua...
متن کاملLessons from the Adoption of MusicXML as an Interchange Standard
Around 2000, many people realized that XML technology could be a great way to finally create a successful interchange format for music notation and digital sheet music applications. In the past, adoption of music notation interchange formats had suffered from both technical and social problems. Previous efforts like SMDL and NIFF never met their goals of becoming a standard music notation inter...
